In an effort to organize my classes, blogging, and life, I’m going to try to schedule my weekly posting. I’ll continue the Spiritual Discipline Tuesday posts and my Hello Foto Friday posts, but I’m also adding a New Orleans Prayer Guide on Wednesdays and a Spotlight Thursday post. I’ll still continue posting randomly throughout the week, but this way I’ll have four posts a week regardless of any other issues (unless class somehow gets in my way). So here we go.

I tried to write out a list of all the things we need people to pray about, and it’s getting long. At this rate I’ll have moved away from New Orleans long before I blog all of them, but maybe that just gives you an idea of how much prayer we actually need here. Today’s topic is crime. It’s no secret that New Orleans has struggled with crime- it’s been the murder capital of the US plenty of times, even if it’s been unofficial a few of those years. As of this post, we’ve already had over 100 murders, which puts us on target to be the murder capital once again.
Back in January we had a large Enough Is Enough rally against crime, but it doesn’t seem to have done much good. Superintendent Warren Riley and the entire New Orleans Police Department need our prayers.
- Pray that our criminals and police are reconciled to God through Christ.
- Pray that our criminals and corrupt government officials are brought to justice.
- Pray that our police are trained properly.
- Pray that our citizens would have the courage to report crime.
- Pray how you feel you should pray for New Orleans.
We’ll appreciate as much as you’re willing to pray. Come back next Wednesday for another way you can pray for New Orleans.
