Well thanks for further making my point, guys.

People are saying McCain "won" the forum, but came away feeling better about Obama's answers. Or at least clearer. I know I made my decision months ago, and I'm guessing both of you are Obama supporters too, but I thought McCain would sound more reasonable in this kind of setting. After watching, I didn't feel better about him.

I'd like to really hear what Obama's energy plan is now... especially since I have one of my own, which I'm sure isn't feasible at all. I lean more toward Obama than McCain on energy.... in fact the only issue I'm with McCain on is abortion... as far as I can tell. For some, that's enough. For me, I don't know that it is.

McCain also seems to only be able to see evil in the "other." This is not a healthy worldview. We will never be able to confront the evil in others unless we can see the evil in ourselves, or as Jesus himself said, "How can you say to your brother, Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye, when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye." Luke 6:42

I hate using labels, but here goes...McCain seems to think we (Americans) can eradicate evil. That's a very classical liberal view. Obama on the other hand knows that only God can erase evil. That's very significant. McCain holds that if we try hard enough, we can accomplish anything. That's not only absurd, it's idolatrous!

I like Obama's humility.

I agree Joe. Obama's response to the question about evil was definitely a more intelligent, thoughtful, and Christian answer. McCain said exactly what you thought he would say, just like his answers to most of the questions.
The biggest question though is who fared better in the forum all-around, though I felt that McCain seemed rehearsed and trite, as if he was giving another stump speech, many people that I have talked to say that they saw him as being strong and truthful. One person even said that if the election had been before this forum they would have voted for Obama, but now they were leaning towards McCain.
Obama admittedly tried to skip around some of the tough questions, especially the one on abortion, but I felt that in the end he still seemed more genuine. He also seems to understand his faith in a way that McCain does not. When asked about Christ McCain gave a Sunday School answer and a moving story from his time as a P.O.W.,that spoke more to his captor's faith than his. Whereas Obama spoke about how he has grown in his faith and how it effects his everday life.
