Bell County Market Days in Belton, Texas | February 2009
My friend Hilary and I took a day trip around rural central Texas a couple weeks ago. We left Waco for the Texas-renowned Bell County Market Days in Belton. As you can see, Belton is a happenin’ town. While we walked around, a man asked us, “Why you taking pictures of my town?” We joked with him a little, and he told us a town east of Belton had some movies filmed there. Having little better to do, we went that direction- to Bartlett.
The Bartlett Grammar School in Bartlett, Texas | February 2009
Bartlett looked like almost every other small town in Texas, but I did notice a red brick building off the main street. The Bartlett Grammar School looked more like an insane asylum, and it didn’t help that the police were located in a trailer next to the building. Still, it proved be interesting enough to take pictures.

After leaving Bartlett, we drove up to the northwest of Waco to Meridian. I’d driven by the courthouse in Meridian a few times, but I never got a good photo. Because it was such a beautiful day, we went on up there. On our way out of town, we saw a minivan turned over on its back, and along with several other people helped put the fire out and get the man out of his car. (Really, we didn’t do anything… but we were ready!) I prayed over some of the folks there, and the man turned out to be fine (ironically, he probably had more Christian literature in his car than I have in my entire house, and I’m a seminary grad!).
